secretsforthebest: (Romulus and Remus)
Okay, you all should know how Prince Vector's story goes, right?  He gets paranoid, starts killing everyone off, and then kills himself.

Obviously, Pulastya had to be inserted into the story here somewhere, because otherwise, how could he become a Barian AND Vector's twin?

The answer is, of course, both heartbreaking and simple.

When Vector became paranoid, Pulastya would try to take his brother aside at first, but very rarely had any success at talking him down.  As time went by, though... the elder twin would get worse, and the younger wold simply stand by, watch, unable to do anything and feeling powerless to intercede.  In time, he would start to convince himself that Vector had to be right some of the time, because otherwise, how could he live with himself?  And it was his brother, and he had to believe in his brother, that he knew best...

But when everyone had died, when Vector was alone and in the original story about to commit suicide... Pulastya came for one last meeting.  But he didn't come simply to talk; he was armed, just as Vector was, and no one thought that this was out of place.  He was a young man of the palace in dangerous times.  He spoke with Vector for some time, of how things used to be, and of how they had dreamed while younger for things to have become.  Dreams that had ended in bloodshed.  That he had watched.

Pulastya used the blade he'd brought with him to do - or attempt to do - the deed, but in the end it was just as much Vector's own influence, one of his hands on the hilt of his brother's sword and the other on his own, which ended up buried in his brother's chest for his betrayal, that killed them both.
